Colorado State Capitol Building
The Colorado State Capitol marks the center of downtown Denver, it also marks the edge of the Capitol Hill Neighborhood. Every year thousands of tourists and large groups of school children visit its steps that mark the city's famous "Mile High" elevation. Just one block away though its not just the elevation that is high, it is the street people of Colfax and Capitol Hill.
Unsinkable Molly Brown House Museum
Located on Pennsylvania St is the historic Molly Brown House that was once home to the Titanics most well know survivor.
Following other millionaires of the day, Molly Brown built her Denver, Colorado, home in 1889, a three-story, Victorian-style house built of Colorado lava stone with sandstone trim. It is typical of the homes built in the surrounding Capitol Hill neighborhood near the turn of the twentieth century, its 7,600 square feet considered merely an average upper-middle-class home at the time.
Now 100 years later it is a popular Museum located in the heart of an aria plagued with drug dealing and street crime.
Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception
Within view of the Capitol Building is the famous Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. It was Denvers first Catholic Church and its twin spires rise 210 feet above the street. in 1983 It played host to Pope John Paul II during World Youth day hosted in Denver. Now it is at the center of drug activity, directly across the street on Colfax Ave dealers sell and use drugs in the streets, alleys and abandoned store fronts.
